So anyway I’ve been house shopping. Somedays it makes my excited other days it freaks me out. But I was wondering if there were no limitations what sort of house would you buy or build?
I think if I had my choice for this stage of my life it would be a warehouse conversion with geodesic/industrial theme elements, and following green architecture designs. i.e. passive solar, grey water recycling loop, etc.
I vassilate between that and something rural and also environmentally friendly. One thing I really don’t like is these developments that have cookie cutter layouts and are spread out so everybody gets enough land to be inefficient but not enough to do anything creative except maybe a small garden. Lord save us from this urban sprawl and inefficient houseing construction. Ok that’s a rant and isn’t completely accurate. But anyway….
Has anybody heard about living machine construction? It sounds way cool although sounds like it would need to be on a larger scale than your own home. From what I gather it’s like a self contained environment. Heat, water, power are all generated and reused to provide an extremely efficient building.
This provides my seqway into building a cabin idea. What say we try to make a living machine cabin? Rammed earth walls and a grey water system could be a good place to start.
